The Little Grebe is a species of aquatic bird in the family Podicipedidae. This bird is the smallest member of the grebe family, hence its name (which compares it to the size or color of a chestnut) and its vernacular synonym of Lesser Grebe. It is also the only grebe in Europe to spawn regularly twice a year. Discreet birds, they settle on any lake, pond, pond or marsh with fairly dense vegetation on its banks.
