European Goldfinch

The European Goldfinch is a passerine species of the family of the finches, partially migratory, small and very variegated. The adult has a scarlet red face, surrounded by white and black, brown back and sides, black tail with white spots and white rump. The plumage of its wings is black striped with a broad band of a bright yellow. Sexual dimorphism is weak in this species; the female is a little less variegated than the male, and the red plumage of her face does not pass behind the eyes as in the male.
